The PLASTINARIUM tour will take you through three sections.
At the heart of the PLASTINARIUM is the Plastination laboratory, where visitors can follow the step-by-step creation of anatomical specimens. This includes embalming in formalin and anatomical dissection of a body as well as the individual steps of the actual Plastination process: removal of water, forced vacuum impregnation with silicone, followed by positioning, curing of silicone specimens and the final anatomical post-dissection. Special technologies such as the preparation of bone and arterial cast specimens, or sheet plastination including the individual steps of positioning, freezing, cutting, fluid removal, fat removal, and curing are demonstrated. Short videos shown at the individual stations complement the educational and fascinating tour.
