The PLASTINARIUM is the only institution of its kind worldwide, which combines the exhibition "BODY WORLDS. The Original Exhibition of Real Human Bodies" with a "transparent laboratory" that is open to public. In the laboratory, visitors can experience firsthand how plastinates are produced. Every step of the Plastination process is explained in detail, from the anatomical preparation to the final specimen. In the exhibit hall, approx. 150 body parts and organs and approx. 15 whole-body plastinates are presented. Before entering the exhibit hall, visitors can familiarize themselves with the history of anatomy and tune in to the topic of anatomy and plastination.
Thus, the PLASTINARIUM in Guben is a new and hitherto unknown combination of anatomy laboratory and museum. Housed in a former cloth factory and with over 26,900 sq.ft., the visitor receives extensive insights into the various methods of dissection, and subseqeunt Plastination. With the state of the art technology, skeletal and sheet plastinates, arterial cast specimens, and large plastinates are created here for the education of doctors and medical lay people. In this sense, the PLASTINARIUM contributes tremendously to medical educations, enlightenment, and health care. Witness how the perishable bodies of humans and animals are preserved for posterity and aesthetically formed through the unique method of plastination, so that you may experience the beauty and fragility of our existence. More than 25 million people worldwide have been fascinated by the reality of the specimens in the BODY WORLDS exhibitions. Come and take a look behind the scenes!
